The Do-Gooder’s
Guide to Authentic Networking
A Free Webinar
with Hanna Cooper
You know you’re “supposed” to network – but what does that
really mean anyway?
Don’t people just see through invitations for coffee as some slimy
self-promoting sales effort?
And with the pace of work and life these days, who really has time to
attend professional events?
How
can you network without the “ick” factor?
As surprising as it may seem, everyone who is successful in
their career has been where you are at some point– including me!
Maybe you’re a new graduate and it seems like your only
contacts are your professors.
Maybe you want to change fields or cities and you don’t know any
one in your new area.
Maybe you’re shy or afraid to contact “big-wigs” in your field because you
don’t want to be rejected or be seen as pushy.
Here’s my take on networking: The world runs on
relationships.
And building your professional relationships through networking
can be as simple as authentically connecting with others about topics that are
of common interest to both of you.
Networking can actually be about fulfilling your purpose,
about making a difference on the topics that matter to you.
I know this because I’ve successfully built my career using
this exact method – a method developed out of my own experience, validated now
through years of experience of working with people just like you around these
issues.
Many years ago, I realized that every job I’ve ever had –
from my first babysitting job, to my career in nonprofit and government leadership,
to launching and succeeding as an independent professional coach – came from
some type of relationship I had or had nurtured.
And I’m not even an extrovert!
Regardless of where you are in your career, building and maintaining professional relationships is
a critical skill for any stage of professional development.
