Rummaging through some old files recently, I re-discovered this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson on success. It pretty much sums up what I mean by "making a difference":
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
It’s not about money or status, despite what our culture tells us; it’s about doing what our hearts and spirits tell us is right.
What else is in your definition of success?
Troy Worman says
My definition of success: Achieving self-awareness and liking what you see.
